Gumtree is the UK’s number one classifieds website and app, used by a third of UK adults every month. With more than 2.7 million listings live at any one time across its Motors, Jobs, Property, For Sale, Services and Pets categories, Gumtree is mostly free, local and simple to use.

While only a tiny proportion of platform users are targeted by criminals,
Gumtree were keen to further understand and do more to prevent and deter criminal activity. The Leapwise team evaluated the impact of Gumtree’s multiple crime prevention technologies and tools and helped Gumtree to engage with the police and policy making community nationally and locally to raise awareness of how Gumtree could help them and vice versa.
Launched at a high profile event with the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, the Chair of the Police ICT Company, Tech UK and the Police Federation, the project report supported ongoing collaborations that help ensure Gumtree’s users stay safe. This project was delivered in collaboration with Red Consultancy who help Gumtree with their key relationships and reputation.
