Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Leapwise is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2022
Additional Details Relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
Emissions data have not been published in prior years therefore we selected 2022 as our base year. Our carbon emissions are calculated using the SSE Energy Solutions Carbon Calculator. We are working with our office providers to provide additional data and further validate our baseline emissions – slight adjustments may be made to increase reporting accuracy.
Baseline year emissions:
EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 1.0 tCO2e
Office emissions (gas)[1] 1.0 tCO2e
Scope 2 0.3 tCO2e
Office emissions (electricity)[2] 0.3  tCO2e
Scope 3

Emission reduction targets

Our emissions reduction commitment made in 2022, is to achieve Net Zero by 2030. This is to be in line with 2015 Paris agreement of achieving net zero target by 2030, and to satisfy the UK Government’s net zero target by 2050.

In our initial plans, we had targeted a 50% decrease over the five years from our 2022 baseline. Due to an increase in travel in our business, and a shift in office space, we are not on track to achieve this, having instead seen an increase in our carbon footprint over the last two years. This is despite our organisational policies that encourage a reduction in carbon emissions through hybrid working, use of public transport for commuting, opting for train over flying, and reducing paper-based processes.

While not expected, we can learn from it. One of the biggest learnings is that as our travel increases (a feature of our business unlikely to be completely eliminated), so must our efforts to offset carbon emissions through a VGS/VCS certified carbon offset scheme. Additionally, we are reliant on a third party, managed office space for a significant amount of our carbon emissions. We will need to work collaboratively with them to understand how they can support us in achieving our Net Zero goals.

In our baseline report, we committed to reviewing the feasibility of a 2030 target. While we will still continue to be ambitious, and target 2030 for achieving Net Zero, we will commit to reviewing the feasibility of this again in our next reporting year (due to our reliance on our managed office space).

It is envisaged that in future carbon offsetting or technology such as carbon capture and storage will be deployed to achieve the difference between actual and net zero carbon.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Our company policies state that our employees are to use public transport where possible when travelling to client sites or meetings, and to always opt for train over air travel. On the rare occasion we do have to fly, we offset our carbon emissions.

In future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Implementation of a VGS/VCS-certified carbon offset scheme
  • Working with our supply chain (specifically our managed offices) to reduce their carbon emissions
  • Setting a carbon reduction target that is validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as in line with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C scenario.
  • Evaluation of all purchase products with specific plans for more efficient use such as reducing single use plastic and reducing use of paper. Using low carbon substitutions were possible such as those made from recycled materials.

Declaration and Sign off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[5] and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[6].

Scope 1 and Scope2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[7].

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).

Signed on behalf of Leapwise

Thomas Gash, Managing Director
