Meet Amber and her passion for public sector transformation

Our Team is the reason we consistently deliver exceptional results for our clients, we want to introduce you to our team members who are the driving force behind Leapwise.

Meet Amber Mullins

Amber Mullins is a Senior Manager at Leapwise. She helps public sector organisations improve performance by leading projects on organisation development, data-driven decision-making, and transformation set up. Amber works hand-in-hand with leaders to translate strategy into pragmatic change that emphasises quick meaningful improvements, while developing long-lasting capabilities in their organisations.

Professional Experience

Prior to Leapwise, Amber (LinkedIn) worked in consulting at Deloitte across New Zealand and Canada, where she focused on public sector transformations. Notable projects include developing a shared service design centre for the Canadian federal government, embedding and improving portfolio/programme management disciplines across multiple government departments, and enabling a public tele-healthcare provider to provide additional support to people through COVID-19.

Ways of Working

Amber has a passion for solving complex social issues and is particularly interested in the application of human-centred design principles to effect social and organisational change. She is motivated by big problems and innovative solutions, and her work can be characterised by its fast pace and co-designed approach.

‘It’s easy to fall in the trap of wanting to do everything all at once – saying yes to more change, without stopping or pausing what’s already going on. We want to equip leaders to make more focused and honest decisions around what is achievable, so their teams are successfully set up to get quicker results’

Client Impact

Amber recently led on a major strategy and improvement project with Cleveland police. The force commissioned Leapwise to create a simplified plan that embeds long-term performance improvement foundations while targeting an exit out of special measures.

One year post-intervention Cleveland police received notification they had been removed from special measures. Their success has freed up capacity to focus more of their attention on prevention initiatives, an effort which has seen a fall in the crime rate compared to the previous year, amongst other benefits for the communities they serve. This hard earned achievement is a product of the force’s absolute long-term commitment to organisational improvement. Amber’s focus on creating collective ownership, driving motivation, and instilling the confidence leaders need to tackle their biggest challenges embodies the Leapwise partnership approach, and is a valuable part of her client’s success.

‘Leapwise provided support at the outset of Cleveland Police’s improvement journey. The team were very hard-working and provided intelligent and insightful input into the development of our improvement plan and strategic objectives.’

–  Mark Webster, Chief Constable, Cleveland Police

When she is not working, Amber can be found travelling, cooking, reading, or learning a new hobby or skill.
